Indian Clubs
Grace, Skill and Flow
Origins & Tradition
Indian clubs are a timeless tool for developing rotational strength, coordination, and mobility. Lighter than Persian meels or the Gada, they invite exploration and play, offering a doorway into fluid, whole-body movement. Practicing with clubs cultivates precision, awareness, and a sense of rhythm, turning every swing into a skillful, meditative expression of your body’s potential.
My relationship with Indian clubs has always felt intuitive, as though the movements speak a familiar language of rhythm, patience, and continuity. Interestingly, my ancestry carries faint traces through regions where these practices were shaped.

Exercises & Approach
- Core club exercises include snakes, hearts and figure-eights — each designed to awaken the shoulders, wrists, and core. Start light and slow, focusing on the path of the club rather than speed or force. Mastery comes from repetition, mindful attention, and patience, allowing fluidity to emerge naturally
- Practicing Indian clubs is as much about the journey as the destination. Over time the clubs become an extension of your body, teaching subtle control, flow, and a joyful connection to movement
