Today was one of those days where physical culture seemed to take on a life of its own.

The morning was all meels, building through different weights, swings and patterns before finishing with the lighter four-count work.

The evening became a proper movement laboratory.

Indian clubs and meels led into the speed bag and Cobra bag, where the progress is becoming noticeable. The speed bag was moving quickly and, on the new Cobra, I’m now knocking out the combinations rather than thinking about every movement.

Then came the kettlebells.

The 20kg swing-to-snatch work progressed through four stages: five swings and five breaths, two swings and two breaths, one swing and one breath and finally snatches alone. 274 reps.

The movement became progressively more continuous while the breathing kept everything regulated.

After that came more kettlebell work, bodyweight dips, meels, clubs and a little double-end bag work before gradually settling everything back down.

By the end I was hungry and fortunately, my younger son had made a proper power bowl: rice, beans, lentils, paneer, tomatoes, spices and nut butter. Exactly the sort of food that makes you realise just how much better real food can be after a day of moving.

And Maddie?

Fast asleep in a large empty cardboard box; the box that the Cobra bag came in!
I’ve been doing my boxing practice, she’s been doing hers, as that’s her type of boxing. 🐈📦
